Reflection paragraph on sources
While doing this research my resources were very trustworthy. Finding the websites were very easy. So many people have their own opinions on a dress code policy. I beilive they were all trustworthhy. The only web site that i thought wasn't that great of help was the blogspot that i used. Her website wasn't that great. The information was there. I just believe that the others were better. Almost all of the websites that i displayed had their own bias. Each one had their own opinion and they stated their opinions on different topics concerning the dresss code policy and the uniform policy. Everything is still undecided.

Reflection Paragraph on process
While doing this search i believe it was very interesting. Learning differents peoples opinions was very interesting. It was a very easy research topic to find. There are many differents websites using others opinions. Such as different States, County's, and District. I never thought their were so many disagreements on the dress code policy. I realy didn't like the fact of people trying to inforce the uniform policy. I strongly disagree with uniforms. If i had to do this project again i was chose to find exactly what i believe the out come of all this disagreement would be.

Reflection paragraph on findings
Every bit of information that i found was very interesting. There were some topics that i would have never thought about that would be an issue involving the dress code. Like kids being distracted by clothes with them feeling either weak or scared. I would have never thought about that. Also how the fact that girls wearing certain type of clothes could be seductive towards boys. All this can be the cause of kids not consintrating on the assignments. I still feel that uniforms should not be informed. That we should be able to wear what we like as long as it's apropraitely. Im still wondering what exactly will the final word on the uniforms are. Either YES we have to have them or NO we don't?
Finding Paragraph #3
Many schools have had different opinions and have not yet decided what exactly they are going to agree with. Many school districts posted their conserns with the uniform policy and the dress code policy. Some say that it would be a good thing to have uniforms. While others disagree there is still an open discussion on the subject. They say that not wearing uniform will cause more gang wars and less kids being focused on their work. Either because they are intimidated that others will try to fight them or others are distracted by the girls wearing seductive clothes. Wearing the uniforms kids want have to worry about all that. They will be consintrated on their own work.
Finding Paragraph #2
There are many peoples opinion on what is the positives and the negatives of not wearing uniforms. In other words the pros and the cons. Some pros i believe are people can be their self by wearing heir regular clothes. I also feel that young adults know how to dress in a proper manner. Leting teens wear what they want gives them freedom and the right to be themselves. It could also help out on saving many cause really uniforms are higher priced than regular clothes i believe. Some cons of the situation is that some teens just don't care about them selves and wear whatever they want to. Say girls that dress very seduction probaly have low self esteem and doesn't care at all. Also boys wearing certain colors can cause alot of fights. Refering to the gang activity.
Finding Paragraph #1
I believe that teens have different styles than one another. So wearing the same thing over an over again can start to be very irritating to people. So since so many different teens have differents styles we should be able to wear what we want. We are all teenagers and are starting to be adults. We should be responsible enough to dress our selves in an apropraite manner. Also many teens like to stand out from the crowd by wear very different clothes and having to wear the same thing as every one else can get very fustrating an make people want to drop out of school.

Quote: There are many different opinions on Greenwood High School’s dress code policy. Most students feel that the dress code is too strict, and that they should have the right to wear what looks good to them.
However, some students agree with Greenwood’s dress code policy because if people are able to wear what they want then they could offend someone.
Rachel Waild said, “I think it is good, not to harsh but not the best.” Rachel also stated that she agrees with some of the dress code rules. “Not being able to wear short shorts is a good rule because some people shouldn’t be showing their stuff”
Everyone from freshmen to senior gets dress code every day. According to students at Greenwood the best thing to do is go ahead and take the violation instead of arguing because arguing with teachers leads to more consequences.
Rachel Waild also said what she thought the consequence should be for a dress code violation. “Either parents need to bring you something to wear or get something from the lost and found”.
Most students at Greenwood seem to disagree with the shorts rule. According to the Greenwood High School Handbook shorts, skirts or dresses should extend to the fingertips when arms are to the side.
Cassie Meador stated “If I could change anything about our schools dress code policy it would be the shorts rule because some students have longer arms or shorter arms then others allowing them to get away with wearing shorter shorts”.
Greenwood High Schools handbook also says that you must where shirts with sleeves and they should not be too low to where students are showing too much. Students come to school thinking their shirts are fine but they don’t see what the teachers see. When students bend over to pick up their books in class shirt falls down to where they see too much you will be sent to the office to change.
“Sometimes girls need to be sent to the office for their shorts but also teachers can be a little too strict about it” Cassie added
Guys at Greenwood are usually getting in trouble for sagging. Nobody wants to see students walking around pulling up their pants all the time or pants falling to their knees.
Dalton Knoise said, “You don’t really see as many guys getting dress code as you do girls, but most of the time when guys do get dress code it’s for their pants sagging to their knees, If your pants are too big wear a belt because no one wants to see it”.
Although there are a lot of opinions on Greenwoods dress code policy, it is important that there is one. Students may feel that the school shouldn’t have one or it is too strict, but if Greenwood didn’t have a dress code then it could lead to the school becoming an unhealthy environment.
“It is important that we have a dress code because we don’t want people coming to school wearing inappropriate clothing” Cassie said.
If students at Greenwood disagree with the dress code, it is still important that the dress code is followed. Students will stay out of trouble and have a much smoother school year if they do.

Paraphase: This artictle states that not only do parents and society ant to inforce the dress code policy but many students also want to inforce the dress code. Also Many students wouldn't like the dress code to be inforced more. They would like the dress code policy to be less stricker. Saying that shorts should be able to be short. Boys should be able to sag their pants. It also states that the conseqences should be more stricter. When you violate the dress code policy students believe that it's better just to take the conseqences without an argument.

This chart shows that only 10% of people agree that they should inforce uniforms. Though 90% of people state that no they should not have to wear uniforms. That the school district should stick to the dress code policy.

Quote: "Principals in rural areas showed greater support for dress codes than principals in suburban and urban schools. Yet the reverse was true for mandatory uniforms. Urban principals showed greater support for uniforms, followed by suburban and then rural principals," say the authors.
More than half the principals reported that their schools had formal dress-code policies that usually prohibited halters, low-cut tops, tank tops, low-riding pants, wallet chains, sunglasses, headgear, and exposed undergarments. Codes also often prohibited clothing with advertisements or depictions of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco products, or displays of offensive messages. Some codes contain requirements that hair be clean and well-groomed, and that clothes be clean, neat, and properly fastened.
Although the principals clearly favored dress codes, they acknowledged having some doubts about the constitutionality of restrictions on student dress. In response to this concern, the authors explain at length that the nation’s courts have repeatedly given school authorities wide latitude to enforce dress codes that preserve order in schools. A principal’s interest in enforcing dress regulations that "teach community values and promote school discipline" takes precedence over a student’s right to wear gang-related or sexually provocative clothing, say the authors.
Paraphase: This article explains principals of different districts also have their own bias on the dress code policy. Some believe that enforceing the rules are better than having to wear uniforms. Also they state that giving teens the responsibility of following the rules teach them community values. They just proceed in inforcing the dress code policy rather than going into uniforms.

Quote: Most schools have regulations on how students dress. The intent is to keep students safe and focused on academics. Teachers have enough on their plate to motivate learning without having to monitor which slogan is affecting who today.
Baggy pants and bandanas could be interpreted as gang dress. Dressing as a gang member intimidates other students and spreads fear instead of focusing on academics. Pants with large pockets are often restricted because a weapon or drugs could be carried in them. Certain colors are often banned if gang colors.
Coats and bookbags are often only permitted in lockers. Again, guns and drugs could be in coat pockets and bookbags
Paraphase: This article explains the negatives of having let the students wear their regular clothes. They say that girls that wear inapropraite clothes that are seductive cause boys to not stay focus on their work. With gangmembers wearing their colors can cause kids to be intimidated by them. Then they explain how wearing uniforms don't attract boys like when girls wear regular clothes.
Coats and bookbags are often only permitted in lockers. Again, guns and drugs could be in coat pockets and bookbags
Dressing seductively is a great distraction to the opposite sex. It only makes sense to put restrictions on what can be worn to school. Sexual thoughts are already frequent in middle school and high school. Most students do not need visual aids
More and more public schools are switching to uniforms. This custom used to be reserved for private and Catholic schools but public schools are finding some positive results. When students wear uniforms to school, no one can tell who has more money. The latest expensive jeans can't be shown off along with the designer polo.
The results have been better attendance because students always have something acceptable to wear. Studies uncovered the fact that some students were missing school because they didn't have "cool" clothes to wear or the one pair of jeans that was "cool" was too wet to wear to school. And, since students are not distracted by who is wearing what, students focus better on academics and their own business.
How we dress does matter. Even entrepreneurs that work out of their home feel their workday is more productive when dressed appropriately rather than working in pajamas

Quote: A new trend is the mounting pressure to establish dress codes for teachers. Apparently the same casual mind-set toward revealing outfits is cropping up in the ranks of our teachers.
The debate over uniforms in public schools encompasses many larger issues than simply what children should wear to school. It touches on issues of school improvement, freedom of expression and the "culture wars." It's no wonder the debate rages on.
Paraphase: This quote is explaining that not just students have a dress code teachers do to. Having uniforms may be a good thing but in some students they might be from a different state or out of the country and it could be against their religion. It may not be a violation in their culture. So the debate if students have to wear uniforms or stick to the dress code is still in he air. Nothing has been decided.

Quote: Officials in a number of districts and schools in recent years have tempered their approaches by enacting stricter dress codes rather than forcing the wearing of uniforms. School officials in Fayette County, suburban Atlanta, Georgia, for instance, decided in favor of a tighter dress code in 1999 in response to community demands (White 2000).
The Marple Newtown School District in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, chose a dress code rather than uniforms. The fairly typical code prohibits the wearing of tube tops, halter tops, cutoff shorts, short shorts, and clothes that promote alcohol or drugs. “Going from a loose dress code to school uniforms seemed like a knee-jerk reaction,” said Raj Chopra, superintendent of the suburban Philadelphia school system. “It seems like an easy solution, but our goal was to get students to dress for success” (in White 2000).
But the solution remains far from easy. There are many layers to the debate.
Paraphase: All schools do not agree with the uniform policy. Many believe that keeping to the dress code would be better. Some schools just decided that they were going to enforce the dress code policy and be more strict on what the students where to school. Marple Newtown School District shares their opinion on the dress code situations. They believe that students should wear what they want as long as they don't wear short shorts, clothes the describe alcohol and drugs, and halter tops. These are different county's opinion on what they believe about the dress code.

What I want to know about my topic?
What I would like to know about the dress code?
- Who's idea was the dress code policy?
- What exactly is the original dress code?
- What are others opinion on the dress code?
- Why do many schools inforce it when others don't?

What I already know about my topic
The dress code is still in effect. Many schools try to enforce it, but most schools don't sucessed. Some of the rules are no baggy pants, no short skirts or shorts, no tank tops, no bandanas, and so on. They have a book with all the rules for the dress code. All though there are many rules in there they only enforce the imporrtant one.

The story behind my topic choice
Why do we exactly have a dress code? Every school has the same dress code, no short skirts or shorts, no baggy pants, no tank tops, an so on. I mean i just don't understand why teachers an staff try to inforce this dress code. Nobody ever follows it, So it's a waste of time to even have schools go over it an try to inforce them. Every individual has their own personality. When having your own personality in some people they express it through their clothes. For me i like to wear tank tops. They have it if you straps are to short you can not wear them and that bothers me alot.
